Disgraced (if he had any shame) Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (shown here in the Foreman High School Foremanual) reportedly stiffed Winston & Strawn $500,000. That’s the balance due on more than $2 million of work the firm has done for “Blago.” The representation began five years ago, in response to the first corruption investigation by the feds. White-collar litigator Brad Lerman (Yale BA ’78, Harvard JD ’81) has been counsel of record.
When asked if the firm would be representing Big Rod this time around, an unnamed Winston partner said the firm would have to take a pass. Looking at the debts Blagojevich has run up, including about $750,000 in mortgages, against his $177,000 salary – he’s probably not a good credit risk right now anyway.
