The $380 million Marc Dreier allegedly purloined may pale in comparison to Bernie Madoff’s $50 billion scam, but Dreier is right up there in the chutzpah category. The New York Times is reporting that Dreier managed to sneak a last $10 million out from under the authorities’ noses. After his comptroller refused to process any more transactions, Dreier got his firm’s bank to transfer the money from an escrow account to parts unknown while sitting in jail in Toronto.
