shuckcorn+ AmLaw Daily has a fascinating interview with James Hanks, Jr. (Princeton AB, Maryland LLB, Harvard LLM), a Venable M&A partner who was on the US Air flight that “landed” on the Hudson river last week.

+ Actor and music supervisor from Slumdog Millionaire are being sued by an Indian man because the term “slumdog” is defamatory to people from the slums of Mumbai.  No BigLaw connection, but it’s a great movie.

+ Disgraced former Ohio AG Mark Dann will be paying $247,500 to each of the two women he allegedly sexually harassed, which led in part to his resignation.

+ Obama continues to drink at the BigLaw fountain.  His latest appointments include Christine Varney (SUNY Albany ’77, Syracuse MPA ’78, Georgetown JD ’86) of Hogan & Hartson to head DOJ Antitrust Division, Lanny Breuer (Columbia BA ’80, Columbia JD ’85) of Covington & Burling to head DOJ Criminal, and Tony West (Harvard BA ’87, Stanford JD ’92) of Morrison & Foerster to head DOJ Civil.
