As Above the Law predicted earlier this week, Latham & Watkins has made major cuts. The firm laid off 190 associates (approximately 12% of the associate ranks) and 250 paralegals and staff (10%). No partners are affected – presumably other than in comp, which was down 21% in 2008.
To date, only Allen & Overy has had a larger layoff (447 on February 19). More analysis will follow later today in our regular “This Week in Layoffs” feature and over the weekend will come “The Month in Layoffs – February.”
