CNN.com has a piece about Plan B for jobless lawyers. They obviously know what they’re talking about; they used data from our Layoff Tracker and reproduced a chart. [CNN]
Even smarter is friend of the blog Jason Mendelson (if you haven’t already, make sure you check out his Law Firm 2.0 series). We provided him some of the data for his post “Lawyer Layoffs – What it Means to You.” [Jason Mendelson]
Yet another IPO canceled. This time it’s Omneon, a “digital content storage and data processing service for companies.” Interestingly, the company was trying to raise only $115 million in the IPO, but had gone through $105 million in VC funding. Also interesting: Omneon filed its S-1 in December 2008. Yes, that’s more than two years in registration. Fenwick & West was issuer’s counsel; Davis Polk represented the underwriters. [Venturebeat]
Not surprisingly, Morgan & Finnegan has filed for liquidation in bankruptcy. The firm was put into receivership a week ago after JPMorgan Chase sued (and froze accounts that were to be used to pay employees). [Above the Law]
Bruce MacEwen has an excellent analysis of the drastic cuts in partner comp at Dewey & LeBoeuf. [Adam Smith, Esq.]
Manhattan DA was forced to drop charges against James Peck, the bankruptcy judge presiding on the Lehman case. His wife refused to cooperate. [ABA Journal]
