Former Chadbourne bankruptcy partner Joe Smolinsky agrees (or just wants to do more debtor work). He gave notice and is joining Weil.

Stanford Capital’s CIO has gotten around to the inevitable lawsuit against Thomas Sjoblom (Minnesota BA ’74, William Mitchell JD ’78, Georgetown LLM ’82) and his partners at Proskauer. Laura Pendergrast-Holt claims he wasn’t clear enough on what he meant when he kept saying things like he represented her to the extent her interests aligned with the company or some such.
GM‘s independent directors are the latest to turn to Cravath‘s Bob Joffee (Harvard AB ’64, JD ’67) for counsel. He has also advised the boards of Citi and Merrill. GM has also used Davis Polk for executive-comp issues.
