Quick Shucks – 4/20/09

The big news for the day is that we overhauled the Layoff Tracker.  We moved a lot of data off the main page into various sub-pages.  This will allow it to load in a reasonable amount of time and let readers go straight to the data they’re interested in.  We’ve added a few new charts, so click around.

We always appreciate it when the mainstream media write about us.  Especially when it’s a periodical we read.  This time: The Economist.

Mayer Brown lost a FOIA fight with the IRS.  The IRS claimed that disclosure would provide a roadmap for wannabe tax cheats.  [Legal Times]

Speaking of the IRS, Reed Smith tax partner Jim Kleier reportedly owes the state of California over $400k in back income taxes.  [LegalPad]

A Ropes & Gray partner is drafting federal legislation to stop cyberstalkers.  First-Amendment litigator Joan Lukey has been getting rather unwanted attention from her client’s opponent.  [American Lawyer]
