It should also be said that for many years, new law school graduates starting salaries have been decreasing, not great for the field. If or when the recession does end - will it bring back these jobs? Have these displaced associates moved onto other fields? It would be interesting to determine if they have found other positions within their areas of practice. The legal field is certainly not exempt from the hard thrashes this economy has been dealing.
