Top Posts for May

top10postsmayIt’s that time again, a look back at the most-popular articles of the past month (April’s are here). As usual, the list is led by the layoff articles, but there’s lots of other interesting stuff.

#10 – Cravath Not Catching That Pepsi Spirit – A roundup of the major firms involved in Pepsi’s efforts to acquire its US bottling companies.

The list continues after the jump.

#9 – Banks’ Suit Against MBIA is a Feast for BigLaw – The fight over the MBIA breakup has brought in at least six AmLaw 100 firms.

#8 – Fired Yahoo Lawyer Turns up on 9th Circuit Brief – A while back we wrote about Eulonda Skyles’s wrongful-termination suit against Yahoo. Then this privacy/stalking case fell in our laps and we noticed she was on the brief.

#7 – How Much BigLaw Does a GM Bankruptcy Take? We’ll have more to say on the subject, but here’s the first roundup of the firms on the massive case.

#6 – Google’s Firm Unwittingly Published Antitrust Training Slides – Hot on the heels of the FTC’s sounding off about going after Google, we track down the antitrust-training slides WSGR used.

After the jump, the top 5 (plus links to all of the layoff stuff).

#5 – Former Partner Sues Edwards Angell pretty self-explanatory. A lateral from K&L Gates got booted and sued.

#4 – W&C Partner Stirs Up White House/Chrysler Tiff was the first in the ongoing saga of Tom Lauria’s fight with the government. (About which we’ll be writing more presently)

#3 – Davis Wright Caught in Middle of Ponzi Suits, the firm, and several other big firms, has been dragged into a messy bankruptcy in Oregon.

#2 – Now THAT’s a Client, wherein we extoll the virtues of Pfizer and their quarter-TRILLION dollar relationship with Cadwalader’s Dennis Block.

#1 – How Ironic, Best Law Firms List Out – Wachtell Not #1 comes in at #1. We were shocked (shocked!) to learn that Corporate Board Member came up with a list of the top corporate firms, as ranked by over 300 directors, and Wachtell wasn’t at the top.  But at least they’re #1 on our list.

We don’t count them in the Top 10 lists, but here they are for reference,
