top10postsBelow are our top posts for July. As usual, we don’t include our regular features like This Week in Layoffs and The Month in Layoffs in the Top 10 posts for the month.

Our latest addition, the Laid Off Diary also has its own dedicated page, which you should be checking regularly. The Introduction is a good place to get started on this series, which provides an intimate description of the information that we otherwise present so objectively.

#10 – Megamillionaire Won’t Let Lawyer Fiance Rest – Articles about Google’s Marissa Meyer and Virtual Law Partners’ Zack Bogue are always popular.

The rest of the top 10, after the jump.

#9 – The Deal’s Up-and-Coming Lawyers – The Deal magazine wrote about lawyers on the brink, we connected them back to BigLaw.

#8 – BREAKING NEWS: MLB Cancels 2010 Summer Program and Eliminates Lockstep – We had this story before everyone else. You can send us tips, too!

#7 – Goldman Lawyer Arrested – Even though it just went up at the end of the month, Todd Genger’s arrest attracted a lot of attention. To continue tooting our own horn, we were the first site to connect him to BigLaw: he used to work at Sidley Austin.

#6 – LA Boutique Living the Dream – The lawyers at Zuber & Taillieu are BigLaw refugees who are building a succesful, unique practice.

#5 – Best Law Firms List Out – Wachtell Not #1 – Articles about Wachtell are particularly popular. The firm is featured in three of the top five this month. We weren’t the only people surprised that Jones Day was on top of Corporate Board Member magazine’s ranking.

#4 – BigLaw Vets All Over Best-Paid GC List – Tracking the BigLaw connections of the best-paid general counsels (seven of the top ten were at AmLaw 100 firms).

#3 – M&A Rankings Out – Wachtell #1 (and Not #1) – Depending on whom you listen to, Wachtell was either #1 or #6 on the mid-year M&A league tables.

#2 – Wachtell Considered Rescinding Layoffs – While you’d never know it now, in its early days, the world’s most-profitable law firm actually struggled to meet expenses. They were smart enough to figure out a model that not only helped them get through thin times, but set the firm up for lasting success.

#1 – The Law Shucks Mid-Year Layoff Review – The title pretty much explains it all. Extensive charts, plus the wildly popular Venn diagram comparing AmLaw rankings and layoffs.
