Announcing the Law Shucks Bonus Tracker

We’re pleased to announce the Law Shucks Bonus Tracker.

Just like with law-firm layoffs, we’ve identified another area where information about firms has been well reported, but discretely and serially. We believe we can add value by providing and curating a single public repository to allow analysis and comparison of the data.

We’ll also start writing analyses of trends, as we’ve done with the This Week in Layoffs and The Month in Layoffs series.

There’s not much on the analysis/editorial front for bonuses yet. Cravath was first out of the gate, and more than any other year, other firms have fallen right in line. The pre-Thanksgiving followers (Cleary, Skadden, Willkie Farr, Simpson Thacher, Davis Polk, and Debevoise) have all announced the exact same regimen.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see slight variations in the coming weeks as firms scramble to make at least a token gesture, and we wouldn’t rule out a dark horse trying to steal everyone’s thunder with a late raise.  We believe there’s a compelling case for bonuses this year, even more so than most others.

We’re expecting many more announcements in the coming days, so make sure to send them in to us directly, also please let us know what features and changes you’d like to see.
