And be in a position to take clients with you when you leave. There's only one way to control your own destiny - build your own book of portable business. This is especially important for women lawyers who at last count were makking 60 cents on the male lawyers dollar. Read Ending the Gauntlet before making any legal career move ladies!

Fair enough, and yeah, definitely different focus. We're going for the narrower audience of big firm insiders, and they write for the whole industry. Plenty of room for everybody!

I agree his job is tough. What I was really getting at is that his sweet spot is law student issues and "look what this idiot lawyer did" types of stories. When it comes to the finer points of law firm life that would be relevant to sr. associates/partners, the only insights on ATL come from that rare person who bothers to make a serious comment, and you have to mine through 100+ inane schticks to find it. I guess it's just a different focus.

And, of course, I forgot the most important thing. We added Hiring Partner as a weekly column and we're on the lookout for more. If you know of someone, or have an interesting perspective, let us know, we're constantly on the lookout for new columns.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll have to respectfully disagree on Elie's performance. Frankly, the guy has the toughest job in legal blogging and we think he's doing a great job. As for the lack of posts per day, we're working on it. We've started using posterous so we can submit posts by email but it still requires re-formatting when it hits wordpress. That should be fixed as part of the imminent redesign.

If you really like the site

I love this kind of coverage. ATL doesn't do this kind of thing well, because Elie was a freaking hack in biglaw and doesn't know what he's talking about, and it shows. My only recommendation is that you produce more posts per day. This site has the potential to displace ATL as the go-to legal blog, at least among grown-ups.
